Vintage Celluloid Anatomical Head Model – Human Head Cross-Section & Musculature

A fantastic vintage anatomical model made of celluloid, depicting a detailed cross-section of the human head combined with external musculature, nerves, and vascular structures. This model dates from the 1950s–1970s, produced for classroom instruction in biology and early medical education.

Celluloid models are far less common than plaster ones — lighter, more flexible, and with a distinct glossy finish. This piece features two expressive sides:

One side shows the musculature of the face and neck, with painted arteries, veins, and nerves in vivid reds, blues, and yellows.

The cross-section side displays the internal anatomy: the brain, cerebellum, sinus cavities, pharynx, larynx, tongue, spine, and upper airway.

Multiple structures are numbered for classroom reference, including a small printed label still attached to the base.

The model is mounted on its original pale cream-colored base, which brings a beautiful contrast to the bright anatomical colors. It has that unmistakable mid-century educational look — expressive, graphic, and wonderfully bold.
