Vintage Bulgarian Communist Era Enamel Safety Sign

A rare original Bulgarian enamel safety sign from the communist period (circa 1960s–1980s). This authentic piece of socialist industrial history was once used in a Bulgarian factory, industrial complex, or public facility as part of the extensive system of workplace safety signage common throughout the Eastern Bloc.

The sign features a bold black pictogram of a swimmer above stylised waves on a vivid yellow triangular background. Made from enamelled steel, it was designed to withstand harsh industrial environments, moisture, and outdoor conditions. These signs were a familiar sight in Bulgarian factories, workshops, state enterprises, and workers’ recreational facilities during the socialist era.

Today, original communist-era enamel signs are increasingly collected for their minimalist graphics, strong Bauhaus-inspired design, and connection to the industrial heritage of Eastern Europe. Condition

Good vintage condition with authentic signs of age and use. There are minor chips, surface wear, and traces of oxidation around the edges and mounting holes, all consistent with decades of use and adding to its original character. Please review all photographs carefully.
