Vintage Monroe Mechanical Calculator – Antique Adding Machine – Industrial Office Machine – c. 1930s–1940s

An impressive original Monroe mechanical calculator, a beautifully engineered office machine that represents the golden age of mechanical computing. Manufactured by the Monroe Calculating Machine Company in the United States, these machines were widely used in banks, accounting offices, engineering firms, and government institutions before the arrival of electronic calculators.

The calculator features the classic Monroe full-keyboard design with multiple columns of numbered keys, a hand crank, and mechanical result registers. Its substantial metal construction and attractive green and black finish give it an unmistakable industrial appearance, making it an exceptional decorative piece for an office, study, library, or collection of vintage technology.

Whether displayed as an industrial décor item or added to a collection of historical office equipment, this Monroe calculator is a fascinating reminder of early twentieth-century engineering and craftsmanship.

The keys can be pressed, and both operating cranks turn smoothly, although the machine has not been professionally tested for accuracy in calculations. It is missing a few key caps/buttons, as shown in the photographs, and displays paint wear, scratches, and patina consistent with decades of use. It is therefore being sold primarily as a collectable display piece, although the mechanisms appear to move freely.
