Large Vintage Bulgarian Wooden Horse Cart Water Keg

Beautiful antique wooden horse carriage water/liquid keg, originally made to be carried or suspended from a horse-drawn carriage. These practical barrels were used in rural areas to transport water, wine, or other liquids while travelling or working in the countryside.

The keg is strongly built from thick wooden boards and reinforced with wide wooden bands. At the top it has its original heavy forged iron hanging handle, rings, and chains, allowing it to be secured to a carriage.

The wood has developed a wonderful deep patina from decades of use, with scratches, stains, wear, and oxidation to the iron fittings. These authentic traces of age give the piece a fantastic primitive farmhouse character.

Today it makes an impressive decorative object for a rustic interior, farmhouse kitchen, wine cellar, restaurant, country house, or collection of traditional agricultural and horse carriage equipment.
