Vintage Metal Carnaval Shooting Target

A wonderfully unusual vintage mechanical shooting-gallery target, made from painted metal and shaped as a cheerful animal musician playing an accordion.

This type of target would originally have been used in a fairground or carnival shooting gallery, where hitting the target activated a mechanical movement. The original mechanism is still visible on the back, giving the piece a fantastic industrial and folk-art character.

The front is brightly hand-painted in blue, yellow, red and black, with a wonderfully expressive face and accordion detail. Decades of use have left the surface with scratches, paint loss, oxidation and patina, giving it a particularly authentic appearance.

Condition

The original mechanical mechanism is present but is not working. There is visible rust, surface wear, scratches and paint loss throughout, consistent with age and previous use. Please examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition.

Even without a functioning mechanism, it makes a fantastic display piece for a collection of fairground memorabilia, shooting-gallery targets, folk art, vintage toys, industrial objects or unusual decorative pieces.
