Vintage Hand-Painted Tiger Shooting Gallery Target

A wonderfully unusual vintage mechanical shooting gallery target, featuring a hand-painted tiger character standing on a colourful base. The target has a great primitive folk-art appearance and was most likely made for use in a fairground, carnival, amusement shooting gallery, or similar arcade setup.
The front is made from shaped and painted material with a large circular metal target area positioned on the tiger's body. The reverse still retains the original mechanical assembly, including the metal levers, wheel and mounting brackets.
The piece has fantastic untouched character, with heavily aged paint, surface wear, oxidation and patina throughout. These imperfections give it a particularly authentic industrial/fairground appearance.
Please note: the original mechanical mechanism is present but does not currently work. It is being sold as a decorative and collectable vintage object rather than as a functioning shooting target.
Dimensions
- Height: 33 cm / 13 in
- Width: 22 cm / 8.7 in
- Depth: 6 cm / 2.4 in
Condition
Authentic vintage condition with significant age-related wear, paint loss, scratches, staining, oxidation and rust to the metal parts. The mechanism is not working. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
A striking collector's piece for a fairground, carnival, circus, arcade, folk-art or unusual industrial interior, and a particularly interesting display object for collectors of vintage amusement equipment.
