Vintage Chajka Lamp Radio, Retro Bulgarian Decor

A beautiful vintage Chajka—or Chaika—valve radio manufactured in Bulgaria during the 1960s.

This wonderfully decorative radio has a long wooden cabinet, striped speaker cloth, an original tuning scale with Cyrillic station names, two large control knobs and ivory push-buttons. The unusual geometric decoration across the speaker grille gives it a particularly striking mid-century appearance.

Radios such as this were once proud household possessions, often occupying a prominent place in the family home. Today, the Chajka is a distinctive example of Bulgarian industrial and domestic design from the socialist period.

The radio is not in working condition and is offered as a decorative collectible or restoration project. It is in authentic used vintage condition with visible marks, scratches and wear to the wooden cabinet. A small panel on the underside is missing, as shown in the photographs.

Dimensions:

• Width: 50 cm
• Height: 21 cm
• Depth: 16 cm

A wonderfully charismatic piece for a vintage-radio collection, music room, studio, shop display or mid-century interior.
